Sportissimo: Installation

In this tutorial, we will look at few necessarily things that must be done to JB Sportissimo in order to work correctly.

 

Template Installation

Install

I don't think that you will need this tutorial, since Joomla 1.5 template installation  is very easy, but if you don't find the way, this link will help you a lot.Remember to unzip the template package before uploading it.

After you have done this part, open the folder with the template and copy the items in the "Overwrite" folder into the root of your Joomla powered website and overwrite all the files as we have made some change to the core files. You will need a ftp client to do this, Filezilla is a great one!

 

Module Positions

JB Sportissimo is not very rich in module positions, as that was not our priority. It has 6 module positions:
  • "user1" where login is located
  • "user2" for search form
  • "online" for displaying currently online users
  • "navigation" where menu is placed
  • "left" as a left or right sidebar (editable in template parameters)
  • "advert1" unstyled module position under "left"

 

Frontpage

Now go to the main menu manager and open frontpage link. Here you can define number of featured items, content columns and article link.

Under "Parameters (System)" select [NO] for "Show Page Title".

 

Search

Just a simple thing needs to be done. Open search module in modules manager and make search button as image. Search module needs to be located in module position called "user2" and button must be showed as an image (Under parameters).
